It’s May … the month we honor mothers everywhere. So we invite you to join Mini Mops in honoring and celebrating the advice we’ve received from our mothers.

From now through Mother’s Day on May 13, 2012, Mini Mops is encouraging our friends, family and clients to post on our Facebook wall (http://www.facebook.com/MiniMopsInc) the best house cleaning tip you’ve ever received from your mom or grandma.

Everyone who does so will be entered into a drawing to win 2 FREE HOURS of house cleaning from Mini Mops *and* 4 FREE tickets to a Fresno Grizzlies game (Super View seats behind home plate).

Of course, certain restrictions apply (one of them is that the house being cleaned must be in Fresno or Clovis) – please see the Mini Mops Mother’s Day Promotion 2012 flyer for complete details.

We hope that you will participate and also that you will encourage YOUR friends and family to join you in honoring their own mothers.

Thank you!

Congratulations to Berneice Liles of Fresno, CA. This great-grandmother was nominated by her granddaughter, Melissa Margullis, and has won $1,000 of FREE house cleaning from Mini Mops, Inc.! Here’s some of her story:

Berneice, known to her family as “Ma,” raised four children as a stay-at-home mom. After they were grown, she took a job outside the home but soon became very actively involved with her first two grandchildren, Melissa and her brother Rob. Melissa says:

“She drove us to school, chaperoned our fieldtrips, took us camping and even took us on vacation destinations such as Catalina Island. There never was a dull moment with Ma, as she would make everything fun!”

As more grandchildren were born, Ma took an early retirement from the outside job and began to babysit on a daily basis.

“At this time, she was still shuttling me (Melissa) around to school and band practice as well, and loving every minute of it. Ma’s legs and back began giving her trouble and became quite painful during this time, but she didn’t let that stop her from her passion of spending tme with her grandchildren.”

When Melissa’s first child was born, Ma again was willing and eager to babysit, but the pain in her back and legs was so severe that she was only able to do so two or three times a week. When Melissa’s second child was born, Ma’s physical health had become so poor that she couldn’t commit to any routine babysitting.

During the past five years, Ma has undergone two back surgeries and is potentially headed towards a third. She also is facing a possible hip replacement.

“But the most miraculous thing is that during this time, she became a primary caregiver for my grandfather, who was suffering with bladder cancer, severe arthritis and diabetes. Ma put aside her own pain and difficulties getting around to prepare three home-cooked meals for Pa daily and supervise his meds and doctor’s appointments … Despite her own physical limitations and excruciating pain, Ma refused to allow Pa to be placed in any assisted-living center or to have any outside assistance come into the home other than family. Sadly, Pa succumbed to the cancer on March 8, 2010.”

Melissa said that Ma’s family has all pitched in to help Ma with the household chores that have become impossible for her to do, but she admits that the house needs a “good dusting and scrubbing” … things that Ma has put on the back burner due to the amount of time that she devoted to caring for Pa and the physical difficulty of the chores.

“A fresh, clean house will not only pick up Ma’s spirits during this time of mourning, but it will also alleviate the pain and discomfort of her completing the tasks herself. My wish is that she would sit back, kick her feet up, and take a much deserved break.”

We hope she will do so, too, Melissa! We can help make the clean house part happen, and then it will be up to you and the rest of the family to make sure she takes that break.

THANK YOU to all of the children, grandchildren, moms and friends who entered their own special moms into the Mini Mops, Inc. Mother’s Day Giveaway 2010. We were privileged to read so many thoughtful stories about so many wonderful and very special moms in our community! While there could be only one winner of this contest, you are all so blessed to have these moms in your lives! Thank you for sharing them with us!
